The winery was founded in 2001, after the restructuring of the family business by Enio and Nicola Chiucchiurlotto. It has 20 hectares of which 8 hectares are vineyards, with basic production and manual labour. They produce Gamay del Trasimeno and Syrah wine. The name Madrevite comes from the name of an old tool, used by traditional umbrian winemakers, to close the usciolo! (the little door on the front of the wooden barrels).
For the tourist
The company offers three different types of visits to the winery, through three different packages. These allow customers to embrace the experience of life in a winery, by getting to know the vineyards, the olive groves, the winery, the aging room and the process techniques firsthand. You can take visits lasting 30 minutes, 2 hours or 3 hours. The 3-hour tour begins with a brief outline of the history of wine from the Trasimeno area and its production regulations and whilst the guests are being accompanied through the centuries-old vineyards and olive groves of the company, they will also learn about the cultural history of the area. The tour then discusses the technical processes and the ageing of wines in wood and glass and climaxes with the rare experience of an exclusive wine tasting from the barrel or barrique, of a wine still in the ageing stages.
