From the 13th to the 19th century the estate belonged to the Bishop of Spoleto, then in 1881 it was purchased by Francesco Antonelli, who started a radical work of transformation and modernization of the machinary and crops. Since 1986, the company has been run by Filippo Antonelli. There are a total of 420 acres, of which 40 are used as vineyard. Beneath the old manor house, you will find the winery and the place of vinification (winemaking); this involves the entry of the pressed grapes into fermentation tanks and the subsequent discharge of the grape pumice by gravity, totally without the use of pumps.
For the tourist
In addition to the tastings and winery tours, the Antonelli agricultural estate offers the opportunity for wine tourists to lodge at the agriturismo Casale Satriano; this consists of 6 apartments of various sizes, with four or six beds. Casale Satriano provides, for its guests, a large garden with a swimming pool, barbecue, traditional wood oven and a childrens playground. Of great interest for those who want to venture behind the stove are the cooking classes, “Cooking in the Winery” which are held in the winery.
